Still Truckin

Here we are again, bigger and better each year with lots going on at Luscious and not enough time to write the Web site.
Half way through our busiest winter ever and gearing up for what will undoubtedly be our busiest summer to date.
We are a few weeks away from finishing our new kitchen truck that will be the shiniest truck on the road capable of cooking for large numbers of people anywhere, anytime.
We will be updating the whole website soon with pictures of the truck, some new menus and stories from recent magazines that we featured in.
Stay tuned.
Thanks from Luscious catering

Halfway 2008 already

June already and the year is only showing signs of speeding up.
Things are busy as ever in the kitchen and we are glad of that as even though the sun continues to shine it’s freezing in the mornings and with the looming power crisis we need the ovens on to warm ourselves aswell as cooking the food.
Hopefully you have seen our newly signwritten vans around town delivering delicious catering all over Auckland.
Midwinter weddings!! This year has seen something new for us, a steady stream of people getting married in the winter as venues are more freely available and it seems that friends and family don’t have to make choices as to whose wedding they will attend as sometimes happens during the summer season.
We have been enjoying putting together some beautiful winter menus with truly heartwarming winter fare that has been going down a treat.
Also our soups have been going down a treat at cafes around town including Caffeteria on Drake st.
Get down there to try our Tomato and Chorizo or Beef and Barley.
We hope to have a retail line of soups in some local Deli stores soon. Watch this space for stockists.

Hope to hear from you soon.
The Team at Luscious Catering

The end of 2007

Already the first months have flown by and we are looking ahead to making it through summer in our kitchen, which has been 36 degrees most days recently.

The end of 2007 was he busiest ¼ luscious catering has ever experienced, what with the success of the temporary café at the World Netball Champs and some large events like the Smirnoff party and several end of year corporate functions the whole team was looking forward to our Christmas break.
Now back into the full swing of things Luscious catering continues to grow and 2008 got off to a flying start this year with power rangers rolling on, and on top of that we have been very busy with weddings and summer functions. With the weather being so great this summer those weddings and summer functions have been fantastic to be part of it’s amazing what a lot of sun does for everyone.

Luscious Catering will be implementing several new initiatives this year in order reduce our carbon footprint, these include any food waste going to a local pig farmer, encouraging customers to go with menus that are truly seasonal and sourced as locally as possible. We are finding customers very receptive to this concept and the fact is that our menus filled with in season and local ingredients will stand out at the event as only fresh local food can.
We continue to use Friendlypak range of potato starch disposable plates and wooden cutlery that comes from a managed forest.
Last year we also found a range of cornstarch cups which are perfect for summer BBq and can go straight in your compost afterwards and not into landfill.
We estimate that we have used in excess of 70,000 potato pak products in the past couple of years alone. We would be horrified if that had all been plastic!

Our Staff team continues to grow and late last year we welcomed Gavin to the team as our senior sous chef, He is back in New Zealand after several years in the uk.

Coming up we have a cooking demonstration at “the Gardner’s Market” at the Auckland botanical gardens on the 6th of April from 10am -2pm. where we will be showing local gardeners some great recipes for vegies that are in season right now and also as it is year of the potato a few great ideas for some of the more interesting varieties of potatoes that we should grow more of.
We will have the recipes up on the website to check out if you can’t make it to the market.

Thanks to all of our customers and we look forward to making many more functions and events the success they deserve to be.

Cheers
Jono, Mark and the team at Luscious Catering
