We have been lucky enough to have had Luscious catering providing the location catering service for Lion's Castaway series. We have been operating a seven days a week 24 hour operation for a period of over 3 months on one of the most remote locations possible – small bay on Great Barrier Island. This has involved around 180 people working complex shift patterns making live programmes for BBC television showing in the UK 5 days a week. The island itself is remote – the location is even more remote within the island, but the team have consistently provided three main meals a day – often three different meals at the same time – along with many ad hoc offerings for different crew requirements. The range of styles from sushi to full monty breakfasts, and fresh soups to full blown roasts have been amazing and commented on by the crew. Even when the storms stopped supplies getting through they somehow managed to carry on the first rate service. We have also been lucky to have local produce incorporated into the meals whenever possible – with numerous touches such as local honeycomb and fish regularly served. I have been on many locations around the world, few in such remote locations and difficult circumstances – but have never had the same level of quality and variety.

I highly recommend them to anyone needing quality catering in a film/tv situation.

Flying Start Catering provide all our catering for the Louis Vuitton Race Series on board the TVNZ Media Boat NorthStar. We have found them professional, reliable, and punctual. Their food is always fresh and presentation is excellent, we receive many favorable compliments from our guests.
